Suspended License Courses

When a police officer catches a citizen driving incorrectly, his/her privilege driving a car is suspended and taken away temporarily. Consequently, the bad driver must pay a fine; go to jail or sometimes both.

The three institutions that have legal authority to suspend a driver's license are: the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the government agency and the Court of the state. The suspension length of a driver's license depends on the court and the driving offense that the person has committed. For instance, a person who never paid a traffic ticket is going to receive a shorter suspension than a person who has a big record with multiple DUI convictions.

The suspension varies in each state. For example, plenty of states use the point system. This type of suspension consists of adding points to a driving record when an irresponsible driver commits a traffic violation. In Maryland, crossing the red light earns 3 points and driving drunk earns 12 points.

However, in many cases the court orders the offender takes the Driving While License Suspended/Revoked License Restoration course (DWLS/R course) so as to get the driver's license back. The course is quite tough because the participants need 8 hours per day for two weeks or so, the cost of the course is about $ 125.00 .This program was created to change the wrong behavior of drivers.
